description:
- This ancient and typical Portuguese house, situated in the
centre of Portugal, has been documented as early as 1743, and
is now one of the most beautiful boarding-houses of Portugal.
- Your hosts, Antonio and Isabel Tinoco, are the proud owners
of this great mansion, where time seems to stand still. It is
no Hotel, no Pension, it is special. Its the only place to go
for a vacation in central Portugal.
- On our website we hope to give you an impression of how a long
or short vacation on this beautiful estate might look like. We
invite you to wander with us through the house with it's beautiful
historic and antique furnishing, the gardens filled with fruit
trees and the grounds with meadows and horses.
- Also we would like to offer you some great tips on how to spend
your time with your friends, family, colleagues or employees here.
- The house is a typical ancient Portuguese mansion that stands
proudly on the edge of the village, surrounded by a high wall
with a gate on the street side. It has rooms to rent in central
Portugal and on this page we show you the interior of the house.
- The rooms:
- There are four available bedrooms. The first one is a double
bed room and has it's own bathroom with toilet. Just like
the other rooms it has a nice open fireplace but also central
heating.
- The second bedroom is also a double bedroom. It's a bit
larger then the first one and has also its own large bathroom
with toilet. The room has a comfortable relaxing corner with
an open fire place, for a romantic winter night. In the summer
you will find this and the other rooms a cool retreat from
the hot summer sun.
- The third room is a bit smaller but also has a comfortable
open fireplace, it shares a luxurious bathroom with the fourth
room.
- The fourth room is a medium sized room that is used mostly
for children. It's close to the third room and the living
room; and therefore also suited for smaller children who might
need your attention.
- All rooms have a modern bathroom that suits and complements
the ancient character of this beautiful house and yet supplies
you with all modern comfort.
- The diner:
- Through one of the old hallways, decorated with pinewood
and many antique paintings and artifacts, we can reach the
dinner. If you take your time you will find that there are
lots of things to discover in these hallways that remember
of the long history of this house. Beside the marvellous paintings
of the people that once lived here you will find many curiosities
of times long gone.
- The diner itself is, as you might guess, in harmony with
the rest of the house. Enjoy your meal in the antique ambiance
of this beautiful dinning room. Here also everything is furnished
with local pinewood and this time finished with lots of porcelain.
- The living room:
- The living room is the right place to relax with your family
and/ or friends. In summer this is a cool retreat from the
hot summer sun, and in winter a warm and cosy place to spend
the night. Here you can write your postcards home or enjoy
the great wines of Portugal. You can relax and enjoy the view
of the gardens.
- If you want you can play a few games of chess or enjoy the tasteful
decoration of the room. Like the hallways the room is full of
special surprises in the form of many artifacts collected and
stored here over the years. Don't be surprised if you find yourself
lost in time.
- The garden is filled with trees providing shelter from the hot
sun in summer or soft rains in winter. Undisturbed by any traffic
this is the place to enjoy the great outdoors. Here starts your
horse riding vacation in Portugal.
- The Tea Garden offers you a place to enjoy the full beauty of
the nature surrounding the house. On a warm winter afternoon or
a fresh summer morning you can sit and relax with a cup of tea
or coffee and look out over the fields and the stables.
On the house side the garden offers you a beautiful view on the
mansion itself, covered with growth that forms a nice contrast
for the granite architecture of the house.
- Cultural and Historical tours:
- Roman site of Bobadela: Medieval Castles of Linhares, Celorico,
Trancoso, Penedono, Marialva, Castelo Rodrigo and the Fortress
of Almeida.
- Visit to the city of Viseu (famous Grão-Vasco Museum;
antiques, gastronomy).
- Visit of Coimbra, its University and local cultural attractions.
- Serra do Caramulo (Automobile Museum; beautiful mountain
landscape).
- Serra da Estrela (outstanding mountain landscape, snow sports
in winter).
- Visit to Piódão (internationally most known
typical little medieval portuguese village, in the middle
of the mountains of Serra do Açor).
