description:

  • The Zeberio valley is a green area with a lot of water, a big forest, with a small population near to Bilbo (Bilbao).
Ametzola is located in the Ametzola quarter of Zeberio valley, on the border of Gorbea´s natural park and it is close to the Bilbao´s Guggenheim museum (25 km). It is in a hillside in front of the Gorbea (the biggest mountain in Bizkaia more than 1.500 meters) and there are splendid views across the mountains.
  • Ametzola is an old farm house. It was built in the XVI century and it was rebuilt at least twice, first in the XVIII century because of a fire, and the second time recently.
It has been rebuilt whit modern materials, but respecting the old wooden structure, the kind of walls (stone and wood)…, so when you will be there you will feel as in a past century.
  • Although, when you arrive there you will feel yourself a hundred years ago, the house has all the modern commodities, facilities as central heating, private bathrooms with hot water and hydro massage shower into all the rooms. All the beds have orthopedic mattresses and northerly down; the bed robes are made whit cotton. All mattresses and eiderdowns are against mite handled.
  • The house has two gardens, the one close to the house is smaller and is occupied by flowers, plants and small trees.
The size of the big one is more or less twenty thousand meters, and there are a lot of typical trees of the Bask country (beech tree, oak tree, alder tree, ash tree, chestnut tree, birch, holly tree… and one of the very limited in Bizkaia old yew trees); and a lot of foreign trees (different oak trees, different beech trees, Indian chestnut trees, different maple trees,…) We are right now working in this garden cleaning, planting ….
  • As a lot of people in the Bask country, we cook very well and you can taste the good traditional and modern meals in our house or in a lot of restaurants and bars (the typical “pintxos”, small cooking) that we have around the country.
The Bask country is not a big country and there are not very big distances between the different places. So you can visit al the Bask Country from Ametzola. From Ametzola to Bilbao 25 km, to Donosti (San Sebastian) 110 km, to Gazteiz (Vitoria) 70 km. Also you have other foreign places of the Bask country as Santander, Burgos or Rioja not more than 140 km away. All of them by motorway.
We can help you with information about typical, historical…places, and how to get there. Tell us what you want and we will prepare a trip around our country and neighbouring area.
  • More information about languages:

    We speak Spanish
We speak bad Euskera (Bask), but we do,
We speak bad English, but we do
We speak bad French, but we do.

how to get there:

We are very near of Bilbo (Bilbao) so you can look on the map for Bilbao and Ugao (Miravalles) or Artea (Castillo Elejabeitia). There are two entries to the valley. For more details you can click the page ”Como llegar” in www.ametzola.net.
It is very easy.Welcome to our house
