description:
- A Casa da Eira is an ancient Galician farm house from the beginning
of the XX Century. It has been completely restored in 2000 respecting
the traditional building materials, basically wood (all treatments
with LIVOS natural oils or similar) and granite stones –
but without neglecting modern facilities such as central heating
and hot water supply, private bathrooms, comfortable beds with
cotton bed-clothes, etc. It is run by Adolfo González,
Susanne Neven and their little daughter Inés who will warmly
welcome you and do their best to make your stay comfortable and
rich in impressions.
The common space consists of a living and dining room with open
fire, reading room with library, garden and a traditional Galician
balcony from which one can enjoy a spectacular view of the River
Sil Canyon. The garden faces South and garden furniture is available.
Home-made dinners can be arranged on appointment. Following the
season we use vegetables from our organic vegetable garden.
We will also be pleased to serve you our breakfast which includes
fresh orange juice, home-made cake, bred made in a firewood oven,
ham, cheese and sausage, butter and home-made marmalades all made
of self-picked fruit form our garden such as raspberry, black
and red currant, cherry, strawberry, pear, peach, etc.
- A Casa da Eira is situated in Galicia, Spain’s greenest
corner, in the province of Ourense, in the midst of the historic
area of “The Ribeira Sacra” with its spectacular River
Sil Canyon and a considerable number of Romanesque monasteries.
If you are interested in Romanesque art you are without any doubt
at the right place (Monastery of Santo Estevo, Santa Cristina,
San Pedro de Rocas, Santa María de Montederramo, Ferreira
de Pantón, etc.). Our village is surrounded by hundred-year-old
chestnut woods.
Numerous activities can be undertaken in the near surroundings
such as hill walking, canoeing, climbing, swimming in the nearby
dam, archery, mountain biking, etc.
We offer workshops upon request about basket making, natural dyeing,
organic agriculture, gastronomy of wild plants; picking, drying
and storing of plants for medical and domestic purpose.
- A Casa da Eira achieved the Spanish quality certification "Q":

- Seize the opportunity of your stay in A Casa da Eira to do some
day excursions. You can visit the pilgrim’s town of Santiago
de Compostela (120km), Ourense with its beautiful old town and
its thermal hot water sources (30km), “The Rías Baixas”
the western coast of Galicia with its splendid beaches, Portugal,
etc.
- Languages: we speak Spanish, Galician, German, English and French.
