description:
- At the Golden Oriole bed and breakfast the aim is to provide you with a peaceful and beautiful setting in which to de-stress, chill-out and re-charge your batteries
- Staying at the Golden Oriole provides an opportunity to experience “The Real Spain” in Olocau - a village set in the foothills of the Sierra Calderona (means cauldron). Olocau is about 40 minutes drive from Valencia airport, the city centre and its beaches. Once you leave the Valencia’s outskirts, your journey to the house will take you through orange orchards, olive groves and some wonderful scenery to uplift the spirit.
- The Golden Oriole b&b is a typical Spanish villa that has been completely reformed to a high standard. Your accommodation comprises a double bedroom, comfortable and attractive lounge, bathroom, kitchenette (microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, washing machine) and terrace, with the use of the garden. You may get lucky and glimpse the Oriole or a visiting owl in the evenings.
The area offers excellent and varied walks in stunning surroundings, through mixed pine forests. A stroll through the hills provides breathtaking views and glimpses of unspoilt Spain. There are also many designated cycle tracks throughout the region.
- The house would also be a perfect base for those investigating this area when considering buying property here. Road links to all areas are very good.
- The local villiage is Olocau. Olocau is a friendly village with a selection of good bars serving tapas, local wines and other cooling refreshments. There is also a restaurant for more formal meals. The village market meets twice weekly and supermarkets are about 10 minutes drive away.
Olocau is a perfect location in which to have rest and relaxation. The lower garden is available for your use and is completely private. This is a great area for taking leisurely strolls through the olive groves and almond trees, or if you are feeling more energetic, designated routes of between 1to 6 hours of mountain walks are possible. There are cycle tracks also, via which you can explore the surrounding villages and even venture all the way into Valencia ...
- The pine forests that surround us are ideal for picnics, painting, photography or just day-dreaming ...
Should you want to venture into the big city then are is a plethora of museums, galleries, restaurants and bars as in any cosmopolitan city.
- There are also cinemas which show both English and Spanish films.

how
to get there:
- Exiting the airport, follow signs for Castellon. (slightly uphill)
- Road goes under a by-pass then over the River Turia - orange groves both sides.
- Just over the river, look for Castellon sign and take turn off right which will go in a complete circle and come out onto the dual carriageway below. IGNORE signs for Valencia!
- After 2/3 minutes, road divides into 2 - follow signs for A7 motorway to Castellon and Barcelona.
- Once on A7 look for exit to CV35 Ademuz - about 5 minutes. Again, full circle onto dual carriageway below and ignore signs for Valencia.
- 10-15 minutes on CV 35. Ignore all signs until dual carriageway becomes one lane and immediately there is an exit for Olocau and Marines. Turn off here and road joins Olocau road (school opposite)
- Go straight over the olive tree roundabout and straight over the Marines/Cespa garage roundabout.
- At the next roundabout turn left following signs to Olocau.
- Go up the hill and at the top the village is lying below.
- At the bottom of the hill turn left at the 1st roundabout and right at the 2nd one
- At the third ignore the right turn signposted Olocau and take the road next right that runs past the 'L'Arquet' bar and hostal on the right and a palm-treed plaza on the left.
- After 100m the tarmac becomes a track. Turn left into Calle Ausias March.
- 100m at the T-junction at the top of the hill, turn right into Calle Pintor Sorolla. No 7 is the 4th house on the left with the black bell.
