- The house : It is a large detached house over two floors, recently
built in the northern Italy, south-east of France style recognisable
with its French windows decorating the façade and surrounded
by a 3600m2 garden with a swimming pool (10m x 5m) at your disposal
and very useful during the summer months. We are located in a
large and elegant housing estate of detached houses. This estate
also includes the golf-course of the R.A.C.E. (Royal Automobile
Club of Spain). Green-fees are possible during week-days. Two
other golf-courses are available within a ten minutes drive.
- As we are just beside a natural reserve area, you can enjoy
walking or jogging in typical Madrid woods. Looking north from
the house you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the northwestern
mountains of Madrid (up to 2000m): la Sierra de Guadarrama.
- The accommodation comprises an elegant living room with open
fireplace, library, dining-room and as we are in Spain, we have
our outside living-room located in a outside porch that is roof-covered
with a rattan three setter sofa plus its armchairs as well as
a dining area.
- Your room: A comfortable double bedroom with its private bathroom,
tub, shower and separate closet. Your French window opens on the
garden, the view and the swimming pool. Colour TV and radio alarm
available. Laundry and ironing facilities.
- We have also available a single bedroom with bathroom on the
first floor.
- Breakfast is as you choose from cereals and toasts or croissants;
jam and marmalade boiled or fried eggs with ham or Madrid chapata…bread
spread with tomato and olive oil.
- Depending of the weather, served outside or in the dining room.
- Only 30kms (half an hour's drive) from the centre of Madrid,
Spain. "La buena estrella" is run by Chantal Obert de
Thieusies, offering warm hospitality in friendly and relaxed surroundings.
- Chantal, her husband and her family have made Spain their home
because of their international background and experience. They
speak French, Spanish and English offering you if you wish suggested
tours accompanying you or not in and around Madrid.
- We are just a few kilometres north of Madrid, this busy and
thriving city of nearly 4 millions habitants. There is plenty
to see, like the worldwide known museums, the Prado, the Bornemiza-Thyssen,
the Reina Sofia. The people are very friendly and nicknamed "the
cats" because they enjoy spending all night out. However
this is not an obligation!
- Around Madrid and within one and two and a half hours drive
you can visit several "world heritage cities", such
as Avila, Salamanca with its famous University, Cathedral and
Plaza Mayor; Segovia with an astonishing roman aqueduct. And very
close to Madrid Alcala de Henares, birthplace of Cervantes with
its University and its storks, nesting on top of the church towers
like in many Spanish towns.
- There is so much to see, we suggest you come over and spend
a few days with us!
Last but no least we are at 700m above sea level and enjoy a fantastic
climate.
- Other facilities (prices for 1 to 3 persons):
- Pick-up at Barajas airport and transfer to “La Buena Estrella”: 25 € (one trip). Taxis charge 40 €.
- Visits by car of Madrid and surroundings: 1 person: 20 € per hour. 2 to 4 persons: 10 € per hour each.
- Light midday lunch upon request.
- Dinner (three courses) beverages included (wine, beer, soda, water): 25€ per person.
